To 40 More Years

On Toronto’s busy Queen Street East, a small store with a bright yellow banner stands out among the high-rise buildings. The store itself looks like it has been there for a while, but more importantly it looks like it belongs.

“You see that crane behind you?” Simons said. “I climbed that last week.”

When Jordan Simons isn’t in his high school classroom he’s likely on top of a building or crane in Toronto. “I started climbing schools and exploring abandoned places in my neighbourhood when I was in grade 6,” Simons says.

Making Connections on Social Media

Photographer Justin Boruta sees this on an everyday basis. Seeing people in Toronto with big DSLRs in their hands, he believes that’s where a problem lies. Becoming a well-known photographer in Toronto is not as easy as it looks.

“It’s hard to grow a crowd in a city that’s super saturated with photographers, so it’s hard to stand out from them,” Boruta says.
